Vivian Maier (February 1, 1926 – April 21, 2009) was a nanny for over 40 years, but was also a remarkable street photographer who did not receive critical acclaim for her work until after her death. Approximately 100,000 negatives, many of which were undeveloped, were discovered by a real estate agent who acquired the photographs from a storage locker in 2007. She primarily photographed people and cityscapes in Chicago, but also travelled and photographed worldwide.
Our surroundings through her lens has been an inspiration…
